Well it is now over for Team USA but we had a great time. As it went there isn't even going to be any tie beaker games. Everyone is off tomorrow and the semi finals we take place on Saturday. It will be Russia against Great Britain and Canada against China. Winners then go to the Gold/Silver round and the loser's go to the Bronze Medal round on Sunday.
Now we relax and enjoy what time we have left.
Thank you all for the support you always give us.
We'll be seeing you soon.
Tony, Meghan and David
It went to a ninth end but they came out the victor with a final score of 8 to 7.
There is still a remote chance we could get into a five team playoff for the fourth slot. We need Slovakia and China to loose their afternoon games today. It's not over yet.
This stuff can definitely cause ulcers.
Good morning everyone. I'm happy to inform you that we just won our sixth game against China. Score 10 to 2. We are still in the game!!!! Currently we are in a three way tie for fifth place Two games to go in the round robin. This afternoon we play Sweden and tomorrow its Great Britain.
Our Thanks for your support.
Another win this afternoon against Sweden. The score was 8 to 3. We are now at 4 - 4.
Tomorrow we play our final round robin game against Great Britain.
A lot rides on our game as well as some of the others
We are still alive fighting our way into the finals. Keep cheering us on.
Not a good day for USA,,,,again. We just lost against Russia 6 to 5. Not much I can say at this point. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Our standing is now 1 - 4
Okay we just won our game against Norway 8 to 5. Spirits are high and the is feeling good about getting one in the win column.
Our record now stands at 1 - 2.
No other game today so we will go and watch our hockey team play this afternoon.
Sorry to report our first game was a loss. Final score Slovakia 6, USA 4.
Our next game is this afternoon is against Korea who just got beat badly by Norway. We'll be looking for our first win. It's early in the roumd robin so let's not loose our faith in our team.
Well we've all been there before and my heart goes out to our team. This afternoon we lost our second game to Korea. The score was 9 to our 5. Yes the team is depressed buy they will bounce back once they figure out this ice.
However, Meghan played lead and out of the eight leads in this last game she ranked the second highest. The only lead that did better was the one on team Finland.
Thats it for now.
We just got back to our rooms coming from the Opening Ceremony. It was just breath taking. We were so proud to be representing our country and our friends at the Cape Cod Curling Club. We hope many of you got the chamce to see it. Our reception coming into the complex was just awesome. We will be coming back with plenty of pictures and videos for all of you to see I have attached another picture of us in our Ralph Lauren attire.
The crowds loved the look.
As all of you know, David, Meghan and I departed Logan last Sunday evening heading to Sochi Russia for the Paralympics. Meghan,s dad, Walter was kind enough to drive us in and to our surprise David's sister Jeannette and her family were there to greet us with helium star balloons and sings. Shortly thereafter my Alex and his girlfriend Bianca slowed up to add to the sendoff. It was all so very nice.
Our flight over to Munich Germany was uneventful, which means it was good. It only took 6 1/2 hours. We then checked into the Hilton Hotel downtown. We spent the day, Monday getting our accreditation and visa forms ready for entry into Russia along with receiving all our uniforms. It was something to behold. Clothing from Nike and Ralph Lauren, Paralympic ring, sun glasses from Oakley and products from Proctor and Gamble. Coming home with all this stuff will be a challenge for sure.
Tuesday morning we met in the lobby of the hotel at 4:30 am to catch the bus for the airport. We arrived in Sochi mid afternoon somewhat tired but happy to be at destination.
Wednesday was a day to relax and get acquainted with the area. We were amazed at the amount of work that has taken place since our visit here last year. The food is very good and we have so much to choose from. I'm in seventh heaven.
Yesterday, Wednesday was fun. We took a bus up to the Mountain Village where we all got on the eight passenger gondola's and ascended the same mountain we have all been seeing during the Olympics. Meghan and Jam had never been on a gondola and it was like reliving our own experiences all over again through their eyes Meghan kept repeating the words "to cool".
Today the fun is over and now it's time to start thinking of the task at hand, we had a team meeting this morning, on ice practice this afternoon and the opening ceremony this evening at 8pm.
Tomorrow, Saturday our games start. First game is against Slovakia at 9:30 am followed with Korea at 3:30 in the afternoon.
What's it for now, wish us luck. Tony Colacchio
|Dave & Meghan on board the plane for the first leg of their journey. They will stop over in Munich, Germany before continuing on to Sochi.
