September 09 , 2006 - At the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors, the Club's Expansion Project was reviewed and discussed. While we were meeting in the warm room, a group was working in the new area framing out the Ladies Locker Room and the Dining Room. It was easy for all of us at the meeting to realize exactly how we have been able to save so much money through the efforts of several hardworking and dedicated members. Thank you. The current status of the project is:
The Goal of the Expansion Committee at the current time is to obtain an Occupancy Permit for the addition. A target date of April 1, 2007 has been set. The current estimated total cost to bring the project to the point of obtaining the Occupancy Permit is approximately $420,000 to $430,000. At that time, the new section will available for use, with interior detail projects to follow. The completed addition will have a functioning Ladies Changing Room and Lavatory, a working Bar, and a Kitchen with plumbing and water. Many finished details and amenities will be scheduled for the future as funds become available.
To date, $234,094.69 has been spent. As indicated in my letter of August 1, the additional funds needed to finance the project to obtain an Occupancy Permit amount to approximately $150,000 and your continued support through pledges and loans is needed.
Your interest and support of the Cape Cod Curling Club is appreciated. John Treanor has now returned from Holiday and is available to answer your questions and inquiries regarding the Financing of the project and the details of the promissory notes. Thank you for your help and support.
Sincerely,
Frank Geishecker

February 10, 2006 - We now have a date of delivery for the steel building, Feb. 20. There is another building on the truck when it leaves the company on Feb.18th; it will be offloaded in NY and the truck will continue to our site arriving sometime around the 20th. Excavation for the foundation is scheduled for the same day so the steel will be stored in the area where the hill was. It will be very active once the digging starts, there will be trucks hauling dirt out while the digging goes forward. If you are curling please try to park as far away from the club as you can to allow free movement for the work vehicles. There will be a ground breaking ceremony at 1P.M. on Mar 11th with photos followed by a meeting inside the club. All club members are invited to both . The meeting will give the members a chance to ask questions about what is to be done about the interior of the club. The expansion committee and Eric M. will be there to answer questions and take suggestions from the members.
February 02, 2006 - The Permit for us to build was finally received from the Building Department. With that in hand we can now start to excavate for the foundation. The metal building is to be loaded on a truck in McKees Rocks, PA during the week of Feb 13th.As of today we have the excavater lined up and by next week we should have holes being dug for the foundation footings. If the weather holds for us we can anticipate the building being up by the end of this month. If you have any pull with the weather gods please put in a word for us.
January 16, 2006 - All the necessary documents for our building permit have been submitted to the Town. Once granted we can commence work on the foundation (28’x104’). W e are hopeful that the foundation will be in and ready for the 13th of February, which is the date of delivery on all the steel for the new building.

September 30, 2005 - Trees have been cleared from the Curling Club lot, making room for our new Septic System and the Expansion itself. Fred Flynn asked the tree removal company if they would leave some of the hard wood on site for our members to use as fire wood. As you enter our lot, on the left, there is a pile of 4 foot lengths. It’s yours for the taking. First come, first serve.
September 28, 2005 - More photos are being added to the gallery.
September 20, 2005 - We have a date for our Zoning Board of Appeals hearing, Oct 26th. After that there is a 3 week wait for interested parties to chime in with their comments. So we will finally "hope' hope" get an answer in the middle of November. At that point we can start actual digging of the foundation and erection of the building . As of yesterday 9/19 we contracted with the landscape company to pile the topsoil aside for future use and to transplant the shrubs and trees we will be using to make a more substantial screen between us and the Condos. In the meantime we are also getting approval from the Health dept for our new septic system. On that subject I would like to explain to those who have asked why we are taking down the hill if we aren't going to put in more parking spaces. The new septic system will be situated under the existing hill to the left of the wooden stairs and deeper into the hill. Taking the hill down now still gives us an opportunity to erect a tent if needed and will give us future parking expansion w/o adding that cost to the present building. The plan is to grade the area and compact it and spread mulch, which has been donated, over it.
September 14, 2005 - There will be a special General Membership Meeting to be held at the First Congregational Church on Main Street on October 15th, 2005 at 10:00 AM. The purpose of the meeting will be to bring the membership up to date on matters concerning the Building Expansion and to answer any questions that the members might have. This notice is being sent to you via email today so you may mark your calendars and hold the time and date open for this important meeting. Notice of this meeting will also be sent to you via US Mail within the next few days. It is important that all members attend, in case the need for a vote arises, a quorum must be present.
September 14, 2005 - The Falmouth Planning Board at its meeting last night (09/13/05) APPROVED our plans for an addition. Because of additional information requested by the board it took an extra meeting before they finally gave their decision. We are presently getting final quotes from 2 steel building companies and various building trades for the actual construction. The only other Town board we have to go before is the Zoning Board of Appeals. That is made necessary by our lot being non-conforming . It should be no problem since we will not be changing the lot lines and will be building on the side opposite the non-conforming lot line . Hopefully I will be able to keep you up to date now that we have cleared this major hurdle.
